What is the one thing that all college applicants have in common? A college essay. College essays are a lot like love letters – it’s important to show off your best qualities while also being honest about who you are. Here are some tips for writing an awesome college application essay:     Keep it short and sweet! Cut out any superfluous information or details, including long introductions or conclusions. Make sure to include key pieces of information such as “why this school?” and “what do you hope to gain from attending this school?” Showcase your personality by highlighting something unique about yourself, such as your hobby or what you are passionate about. 

1. Keep it short and sweet. 

A college application essay is a lot like love letters – it’s important to show off your best qualities while also being honest about who you are. Don’t get bogged down with an introduction, just dive right in! Cut out any superfluous information or details (especially long introductions/conclusions). Make sure to include key pieces of information such as “why this school?” and “what do you hope to gain from attending this school?” Showcase your personality by highlighting something unique about yourself, such as your hobby or what you’re passionate about.

This means that the first sentence should be an attention-grabber, with enough detail for the reader to know where they can continue reading. 

2.Make sure a college application is about one page in length; if it isn’t then there might be some unnecessary information being put into the application.  – Keep an introduction short so as to dive right in without using up too much space with superfluous detail.  – Include key pieces of information such as “why this school?” and “what do you hope to gain from attending this school?” instead of just generally talking more (although there may need to be a little bit). 

3.Showcase your personality.  

When writing a college application essay, it’s important to highlight something unique about yourself. This can be anything from your hobbies or passions that you might want others to know more about. For example, if you love the outdoors and are passionate about hiking then mention that in your application essay. This gives the application a more personal touch, which will make readers want to learn more about you and about why they should accept you into their school.

4. Keep it honest. 

The application essay is about you and what’s important to you – so don’t think that there are any “right” or “wrong” ways of writing your application essay as long as the application doesn’t make up a false identity for yourself. The truth will always be better than anything else because while others might understand why this would be beneficial in some cases, remember that honesty is usually best for building trustworthiness over time. 

5.Focus on what will benefit you the most. 

Remember, this application essay is for you and your potential life at that school. You want to make sure it’s something that benefits both parties – so don’t focus too heavily on qualities about yourself or why a certain college would be good for them without also mentioning how it can help you in turn. This way, the application shows off more of who they are rather than just blindly listing facts; which then forces the reader to do some work when reading through each application (that could end up being a lot of work!).
